Jörg E. Drewes holds since 2013 the Chair of Urban Water Systems Engineering at the Technical University of Munich. 2001–2013 he was Professor of Environmental Engineering at the Colorado School of Mines, USA and Research Director of the NSF Engineering Research Center on Reinventing the Nation Urban Water Infrastructure. 2010–2011 he was Visiting Professor and Associate Director at the Water Desalination and Reuse Center, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, Saudi Arabia. Jörg Drewes is Past-Chair, of the Water Reuse Specialist Group of the International Water Association (IWA) and IWA Fellow, a member of the Drinking Water Commission of the German Ministry of Health and the Federal Environment Agency and member of the Expert Panel on the Future of Water of the Bavarian State Government. He is also a member of the expert Panel on Monitoring Chemicals of Emerging Concern of the State of California and the IWA Strategic Board. Main areas of research: novel design approaches for natural and engineered treatment systems; water recycling; behaviour of chemical and microbiological pollutants in natural and engineered water systems. He is member of the WBGU since 2020.
