To give this societal process orientation, the WBGU has developed a ‘normative compass’ comprising three dimensions: (1) sustaining the natural life-support systems, (2) inclusion, as an expression of a peopleoriented urban development, and (3) Eigenart (a German word meaning ‘character’), as a framework for dealing with socio-cultural diversity and regional, specific development dynamics.
