Julia Behrens has been a research analyst for development and international cooperation at the WBGU Secretariat since April 2025. She studied Asian Studies at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and Environment, Culture and Communication at the University of Glasgow. She wrote her doctoral thesis at Humboldt-Universität on environmental narratives and power structures in environmental and climate policy in Vietnam. Before joining the WBGU, she worked, among others, as head of the project “Climate and Energy in Asia” at the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung and as program manager of the social enterprise VLab Berlin. She spent several years studying and working in Vietnam, Thailand, the UK and the USA, strengthening her expertise in global justice in particular.
