Dr. Jan Siegmeier

Senior Economist

Jan Siegmeier is an economist at the German Advisory Council on Global Change (WBGU) since Juni 2019 and co-author of WBGU publications. He works on economic aspects of sustainability policy, in areas such as climate policy, public economics, digitalization and mobility. Previously, he was a researcher at the Mercator Research Institute on Global Commons and Climate Change (MCC) in Berlin, with a focus on interactions between environmental economics, tax and infrastructure policies, and worked as a business consultant. He studied Physics (Diploma) at the Technical University of Munich and the University of Edinburgh, and holds a M.Sc. in Industrial and Network Economics as well as a PhD in economics from the Technical University of Berlin.
