Astrid Dähn

Astrid Dähn has been Head of Media and Public Relations at the WBGU since July 2025. She is also responsible for energy research at the WBGU office. She studied mathematics and physics in Tübingen and at the Free University of Berlin. After graduating with a degree in theoretical physics, she completed postgraduate studies in science journalism at the Free University of Berlin. She then wrote for various national newspapers such as Die Zeit, Die Woche, and Geo, and as managing editor, she helped develop the German edition of the MIT magazine Technology Review. Most recently, she was deputy editor-in-chief of “neue energie,” a journal that covers all topics related to climate protection and the energy transition. In 2001, she was awarded the Georg von Holtzbrinck Prize for Science Journalism for her work, and in 2024 she was shortlisted for the Fraunhofer Society's UMSICHT Science Prize.
