Aletta Bonn is Head of Department of Biodiversity and People at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research - UFZ and Professor of Ecosystem Services at the University of Jena within the German Centre for Integrative Biodiversity Research (iDiv) Halle-Jena-Leipzig. Her research interests include biodiversity change and ecosystem services, biodiversity and health, urban ecology, citizen science and participatory nature conservation research. Central for her research is the collaboration with experts from natural history societies, NGOs, conservation agencies, museums and research institutes. Between 2000-2012 she worked as research associate at the University of Sheffield, in the Peak District National Park and the International Union for Conservation of Nature IUCN in UK. In 2023, she was appointed State Commissioner for Nature Conservation and Landscape Planning for Berlin. She is WGBU member since 2024.
