The International Institute for Sustainable Development provides the latest news from international environmental and sustainable development negotiations (Earth Negotiations Bulletin) as well as information on upcoming meetings (Linkages).
The Site of the CBD provides you with information on the Convention itself, the Strategic Plan and the 2010 Biodiversity Target as well as the Convention Bodies and the involved Parties. There is also a CBD Information Centre and Document Search facility which is a vast collection of information connected to Biodiversity. Items range from the Information Centre online catalogue and index of research article citations over CBD Controlled Vocabulary and Publications by the Secretariat of the CBD to Resources in the Biosafety Clearing-House.
The website is targeted primarily at people working in government who have
policy or technical responsibilities related to the Climate Change Convention.
Members of nongovernmental organizations - be they environmental, business,
or related to local-government - will find the latest information on what
is happening.
For those who need a quick introduction to climate change and the Convention,
a specially prepared web article, “feeling
the heat,” will guide you through the main concepts and issues.
For more a more in-depth introduction, download one of the guidebooks to be
found under “publications,”
or consult the links at the end of that section.
On their site you will find the usual background on the convention itself and the secretariat. There is a section providing access to all the National Action Programmes (NAP) which are one of the key instruments in the implementation of the Convention. There also is a regional profile area which summarizes information and resources available on desertification in the world. A very substantial collection of documents related to the negotiation process of the convention is provided as well.
